OCEANSIDE–The Oceanside Police Department is seeking assistance from the public with a felony assault which occurred on September 22 at approximately on the Strand near the base of the Oceanside Pier.
At approximately 7 p.m. Oceanside police received a call for assistance from Oceanside Lifeguards. A 67 year-old female was assaulted for no apparent reason by an unknown suspect. The victim was knocked unconscious and sustained serious injuries. She was transported to a local trauma center and is still being treated for serious injuries.
The suspect has been described as a black male adult, 20 to 30 years of age, having long dread locks and wearing a black sweatshirt and blue floral board shorts. The suspect may have been in possession of a skateboard. At the time of the attack, it was noted there were several pedestrians, beach-goers, surfers and others who may have witnessed the crime.
