SAN DIEGO–San Diego police arrested a man in connection with last month’s car prowl burglary in which an English Bulldog puppy was stolen.
Miguel Angel Abeyta, 26, was taken into custody April 7 at a residence in Spring Valley. He was booked into jail on one count each of auto burglary and grand theft. He is currently being held on $50,000 bail.
On March 29, the victim left her 11-week old English Bulldog puppy “Corn Beef” in her vehicle in the parking lot of the Frye’s Electronics Store. Authorities said the victim went inside to ask if she could bring the puppy into the store. While she was inside the store, the vehicle was burglarized and “Corn Beef” was taken. A witness observed the suspects tampering with the victim’s car and provided descriptions of the four male suspects, as well as the vehicle they fled in.
Following up on information, police located a vehicle in Spring Valley that matched the description of the one used during the crime. Detectives contacted the occupants of the residence and gained their cooperation. “Corn Beef” was located inside the residence
“Corn Beef” was reunited with his family at the San Diego Police Department’s Eastern Division that day.
Abeyta will be arraigned on April 11 at San Diego County Superior Court.
Police are investigating the identity of the other three suspects in the case.
