San Diego, CA–The 101.5 KGB Sky Show returns to the San Diego County Credit Union Holiday Bowl after a nearly two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The San Diego Bowl Game Association and iHeart Media officials announced the partnership of the SDCCU Holiday Bowl and the 101.5 KGB Sky Show at Petco Park on December 28 in downtown San Diego.
The game kicks off at 5 p.m. and will feature top teams from the Pac-12 and ACC. After the game, the KGB Sky Show celebrates the station’s 50th anniversary and Sky Show’s 45th anniversary by lighting up the San Diego skyline over Petco Park with its spectacular fireworks display.
“I can’t tell you how excited we are that the SDCCU Holiday Bowl is now the home of the KGB Sky Show,” said Mark Neville, CEO of the SDCCU Holiday Bowl.
“After Covid canceled the 101.5 KGB Sky Show the last few years, we knew we wanted to come back bigger and better than ever,” Noreen Ippolito, Market President of iHeart Media San Diego, said.
First launched in 1976, the KGB Sky Show is an eye-popping and crowd-pleasing fireworks display synchronized to music and broadcast over the radio at 101.5 FM and streamed live through the iHeartRadio App. The 2022 version of Sky Show will be unlike any other, featuring innovative effects in its revamped program.
“We are so excited for the return of the KGB Sky Show and our new partnership with the SDDCU Holiday Bowl, said Shauna Moran, Program Director of 101.5 KGB. “This merger, in addition to our beautiful new venue Petco Park, has made our creative juices flow.”
The Holiday Bowl will feature the pregame and halftime pageantry fans have enjoyed and expected since the game’s inception in 1978.
Tickets for the game and Sky Show go on sale to the general public the week of October 24 at www.HolidayBowl.com. Fans can visit the website now and sign up to receive alerts and reminders.
