BONITA–A 44 year-old man was arrested today in connection with several arsons in Bonita, a Sheriff’s Department spokesman said Wednesday.
Edwin Fisk was taken into custody by deputies from the Imperial Beach Sheriff’s Substation and Sheriff’s Bomb/Arson Unit. He was booked into Central Jail. He is being held on $75,000 bail. Fisk is scheduled to face a judge at the South Bay Courthouse on Friday.
The Sheriff’s Bomb/Arson Unit had been investigating a string of small fires that broke out in the creek bed near Willow and Bonita Roads between April 29 and May 1.
On May 24, the Bonita Fire Department and Sheriff’s Deputies responded to another brush fire behind a liquor store in the 4200 block of Bonita Road. That location is a short distance from the creek bed where the other fires broke out weeks earlier. Sheriff’s Bomb/Arson determined the latest fire was deliberately set. During the course of the investigation, detectives gathered evidence identifying Edwin Fisk as a suspect in several of the arsons.
