VISTA—A Sheriff’s deputy was injured during a confrontation with one of four suspects in a laundry room of apartment building in the unincorporated area of Vista.
About 7:50 p.m., the deputy responded to a call of four intoxicated people smoking marijuana in a laundry room of an apartment building in the 2200 block of Primrose Avenue. When the first deputy arrived on scene she contacted four subjects in the area of the laundry room. A physical confrontation ensued between the deputy and at least one of the subjects. During the confrontation the deputy’s taser was deployed. At this early point in the investigation it is unclear whether it was the deputy or the suspect who deployed the taser.
The deputy fired at least one round from her duty pistol, striking the suspect at least once. The suspect was transported to Palomar Hospital for treatment and is listed in stable condition. The deputy also sustained injuries during the confrontation. She was treated at a local hospital and released.
