Shades of Green at Walt Disney World Offers Fun and Value for Military Personnel

July 6, 2010 By Staff

By Danny R. Johnson

Shades of Green, an Armed Forces Recreation Center located on the Walt Disney World property in Orlando, Florida, offer exceptional value and deeply discounted tickets to all of Orlando’s main attractions. The resort is dedicated to providing first class low cost accommodations for Department of Defense Personnel. It was originally owned by Walt Disney World and called the “Golf Resort” and later the “Disney Inn”.

It was leased by the Department of Defense in 1994 and renamed to Shades of Green. In 2004 it was purchased from Disney and is now owned by the Department of Defense.

It is totally self supporting and operates from non-appropriated funds (no cost to the taxpayer). All profits are put back into the resort. The people who work for Shades of Green are dedicated to serving those who serve. By charging piecemeal only for what people use, ALL ranks can afford to bring their family here.
