Sewage Spill Closes La Jolla Beach Playa Del Norte Windansea

April 12, 2019 By sdcnews

SAN DIEGO–The County of San Diego Department of Environmental Health is issuing a water contact closure for the beach area of Playa Del Norte Windansea, 900 feet north to the beach area of Neptune Place, due to a sewage spill.

The sewage spill was reported by the City of San Diego at approximately 9:30 a.m. Friday morning. The spill is contained; however, an estimated release of 130 gallons entered the beach area resulting in potential impacts to ocean water quality.

Signs warning of sewage contaminated water will remain in place until field samples indicate the ocean water is safe for recreational use at this location.
