Sewage-contaminated water extends to Imperial Beach shoreline

February 7, 2021 By sdcnews

SAN DIEGO–San Diego Department of Environmental Health and Quality has extended the existing water contact closure area at the Tijuana Slough shoreline north to include the Imperial Beach shoreline due to sewage-contaminated runoff.

Water sample results indicate contamination of ocean water now extends north through the Imperial Beach shoreline.

Signs warning of sewage-contaminated water will be placed in the impacted areas and will remain in place until sampling results indicate the ocean water is safe for recreational use.
