San Diego, CA–Sewage-contaminated water flows from the Tijuana River has entered the ocean shoreline at the Tijuana Slough National Wildlife Refuge and Border Field State Park, San Diego County Department of Environmental Health and Quality said Tuesday.
Due to the flows, county health issued a water contact closure for the ocean shoreline until further notice.
The Tijuana River entered the United States following recent rain last weekend. The water contact closure area includes all beaches from the International Border to the south end of Seacoast Drive.
Water contact closure signs will remain in place until ocean water sampling results meet state health standards for recreational use.
