SAN DIEGO–The San Diego Women’s Foundation has release its 2012 grant guidelines that will focus on Education.
The guidelines, which is accessible online will inform interested nonprofit organizations about the process for grant submittal, including submission of a Letter of Inquiry due October 26. In addition, The Foundation will host a Grantseekers’ Forum on October 6 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Girl Scout Headquarters, 1231 Upas Street in San Diego.
Now in its 11th year of operation, The San Diego Women’s Foundation brings women together to turn passion into action with the power of pooled philanthropy.
The San Diego Women’s Foundation’s grantmaking involves a rigorous process conducted by three teams. First, the Discovery Team conducts community research to gain a broad understanding of the year’s topic, prioritizes the issues, and recommends a funding priority within the focus area. The Implementation Team then oversees application solicitation, proposal review, site visits, and balloting process. Finally, the Impact Team serves as the liaison to all Community Partners (grantees) to evaluate and track the effectiveness and success of the grants.
“We know our impact in the community is great,” said Eileen Haag, chair of The San Diego Women’s Foundation. “Our impact team continually compiles data from our grantmaking to express the breadth and depth of our impact in the San Diego Region. Countless stories later, we are very proud of the significant difference we have made in the lives of our neighbors throughout the region.”
She added, “Because of our collective strength, we have granted more than $2 million to 58 impactful nonprofit programs and built a $2.3 million endowment since our founding 11 years ago. What we have achieved as a group would have been unthinkable to do alone. That is the essence of pooled philanthropy.”
The San Diego Women’s Foundation has more than 200 members, and looks to add another 100 members in the coming year.
