San Diego Wave Fútbol Club has signed midfielder Sierra Enge ahead of the upcoming season. Enge is under contract with the Wave for the 2023 season with a mutual club option for 2024.

A Cardiff native, Enge was chosen as the 13th overall draft pick in the 2023 NWSL Draft on Jan. 12. Enge played at Stanford University from 2019-2022, where she helped the Cardinal to one NCAA Championship and three Pac-12 titles. The Stanford standout appeared in 79 games (57 starts) while tallying five goals and 13 assists. The midfielder also earned Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year (2022), United Soccer Coaches All-Region third team (2021), and United Soccer Coaches All-Region second team (2020-21).

“Sierra brings many things to the table for the San Diego Wave, highlighted by her ability to read and influence the game. She’s a promising young player who has demonstrated her quality within our first-team environment, and we look forward to helping her reach her full potential,” said Casey Stoney, San Diego Wave FC Head Coach.

“It’s such an honor to sign with my hometown team and represent this city. Playing for the San Diego Wave is a dream come true, and I am honored to be wearing this crest. Growing up here and representing the Wave means the world to me, and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else,” said Sierra Enge, San Diego Wave FC Midfielder.

Wave FC will open its 2023 campaign on March 25 at Snapdragon Stadium. Scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., the match against the Chicago Red Stars kicks off the Wave’s first full season at the all-new Snapdragon Stadium.
