San Diego Restaurant Week Celebrates Local Distributors

July 7, 2015 By sdcnews

SAN DIEGO–San Diego Restaurant Week will “Celebrate Local” by partnering with local distributors, farmers, vintners, brewers and fishermen in order to bring local produce and Pacific-caught seafood to diners’ plates.

Restaurant Week runs September 20 to 27 at more than 180 participating restaurants in San Diego. Eateries will showcase their top dishes on lunch and dinner menus making diners’ taste buds tingle with choices.

Dinner will be served as a three-course, prix-fixe menu for just $20, $30, $40 or $50 per person and lunch will be served as a two-course prix-fixe menu for only $10, $15 or $20 per person. Saturday as well as an additional Sunday will be included, giving diners that extra date night.

San Diego Restuarant Week and Sysco have joined forces with the “Food For Kids Campaign.” The San Diego Food Bank’s Food 4 Kids Backpack Program provides weekend food packages to chronically hungry elementary school students from low-income households who are at risk of hunger over the weekend. It is simple for diners to get involved in this campaign by following three steps:

  1. Post a photo of your San Diego Restaurant Week experience on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram
  2. Tag the SDRW restaurant you are dining at in your post
  3. Hashtag #Food4Kids in your post

Sysco will donate $1 for every Food 4 Kids post during the event. The San Diego Food Bank has 14 school on the waiting list, and with your help, San Diego Restaurant Week can get a new school into the program so that no child goes hungry.

On September 13 from 4 to 7 p.m., San Diego County Lexus Dealers will present the San Diego Restaurant Week Launch Party at Go Green Agriculture where a selection of participating restaurants will welcome guests and media to sample their locally inspired offerings. Joined by local wineries, breweries and spirit purveyors this exclusive event will have a multitude of sips and nibs. While the majority of this event is invite only, a limited 100 tickets will be available for purchase through the San Diego Restuarant Week website at SanDiegoRestaurantWeek.com.
