SAN DIEGO–Chivas USA midfielder and San Diego native Sal Zizzo will fulfill a lifelong dream as he throws out the first pitch at the San Diego Padres game against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday, September 7 at PETCO Park in San Diego. Zizzo, an All-CIF centerfielder at Patrick Henry High School in San Diego before choosing to play soccer in college, will take part in the pregame festivities as both Chivas USA and the Padres prepare for the ChivaClásico on Tuesday, September 14 at 8:00 p.m. at PETCO Park.
“I have been a Padres fan since I was a little kid, so this is a dream come true for me,” said Zizzo. “It’ll be great to get the chance to throw out the first pitch, and I can’t wait to take part in the ChivaClásico a week later at PETCO Park.”
Zizzo will be joined at the game by Chivas USA teammate Jonathan Bornstein, who represented the USA at the 2010 World Cup. Zizzo joined Chivas USA on July 21 after three years in Germany with Bundesliga club Hannover 96. Prior to his time in Europe, Zizzo had been a standout attacking midfielder for two seasons at UCLA, where he scored eight goals and added 14 assists from 2005-2006. At Patrick Henry High School in San Diego, Zizzo starred in both soccer and baseball, earning All-CIF honors in both sports. He made his debut with Chivas USA on August 21 at FC Dallas in his first game back in action after returning from a knee injury suffered in late 2009
