SDG & E Advises:
· Power is beginning to be restored in some communities in Orange and San Diego Counties including: Escondido, Bonita, Otay Mesa, Carlsbad, National City, Oceanside and North Island.
· Power restoration will continue in a stepped process through tomorrow.
· The outage was caused by a major power disturbance when a 500,000 volt line in central Arizona failed. The disturbance was felt at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station and the plant was shut down as a safety measure.
· Residents are asked to turn off their air conditioners. As power comes back online, air conditioners still turned on could stress the system and cause another outage.
Public Safety
· Only call 911 in the event of a life-threatening emergency.
· For non-emergency information questions, call 211 or the City of San Diego’s non-emergency CAPPS line at (619) 570-1070 .
Impacted Services

· Several water pump stations in the City of San Diego have lost power, and precautionary boil water notices have been issued for the following areas: Scripps Miramar, Tierrasanta, San Carlos, La Jolla, Bernardo Heights, Scripps Ranch, Otay Mesa, Redwood Village (near the college area).
· Four water districts are requesting that residents restrict water use to essential indoor use only. Those communities are: Valley Center Water District, Helix Water District, Fallbrook Public Utility, and Ramona Water District. All other residents are being asked to continue normal water usage.
