
ALPINE–San Diego County Sheriff’s Department assisted by detectives from the Arizona Department of Public Safety GIITEM Taskforce arrested two people responsible for the theft of a metal sculpture depicting a horse from the Double S Tack and Feed Store in unincorporated El Cajon on Friday.
The suspects, Percy Hill, 56, of Golden Valley, Arizona, and Rick Freeman, 62, of Lakeside, were arrested for the theft and booked into detention facilities in their area.
Alpine detectives coordinated with the San Diego Regional Law Enforcement Coordination Center to contact detectives in Arizona to locate and recover the metal sculpture at a residence In Golden Valley, Arizona.
The theft of the sculpture was reported on October 12 by the business owner, but actually occurred on October 2. The community associated with the business was instrumental in identifying potential leads, through surveillance technology, for investigators to utilize in the investigation.
The owner of the sculpture will be coordinating with Arizona Law Enforcement authorities to recover their property at a later time.
