Residential Fire Destroys Two Mobile Homes In El Cajon

August 4, 2019 By sdcnews

EL CAJON–Four adults and one child were displaced after a structure fire destroyed two mobile homes in El Cajon, Heartland Fire and Rescue said.

At 3:45 p.m. Friday afternoon, Heartland Fire and Rescue crews from El Cajon and La Mesa were dispatched to reports of a residential structure fire in the 200 block of El Cajon Blvd.

Fire crews arrived within 5 minutes to discover two fully involved trailers in a mobile home park.

Firefighters quickly attacked the fire, confining it from spreading to any of the other nearby trailers. No occupants were home at the time the fire started. The fire was knocked down within 10 minutes. There was one minor injury to a police officer who had cut his hand breaking glass to determine if anybody was inside the trailers. He was evaluated and released at the scene. There were no firefighter injuries

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Red Cross was called in to assist with 4 adults and 1 child.

Damage to the structure and contents for both homes are estimated at $35,000.
