SAN DIEGO—Detectives are investigating the burglary at the popular Rancho Bernardo Hooters restaurant.
On February 19, just after 4 a.m., the suspects drove to the front of the closed business. A suspect exited the passenger side of a light-colored pickup and broke the glass door of the business with an unknown object. The driver suspect attempted to back the pickup into the business but the door opening was not wide enough. The passenger suspect removed a tow strap from the bed of the truck and wrapped it around a free-standing jukebox located in the lobby of the restaurant. The suspect pushed the jukebox toward the open doors and the driver assisted him as they lifted the jukebox into the bed of the pickup. The suspects drove away in an unknown direction. Investigators believe the suspects mistook the jukebox for an ATM.
The suspects are described as two possible males in their late teens or 20’s. Both wore dark baggie clothing, including hooded sweatshirts with the hoods pulled up over their heads.
The suspects’ vehicle is described as possibly a white or silver-colored late 1990’s model Nissan or Dodge pickup with a crew or extended cab. The pickup hit the building as the suspects attempted to back into the lobby area, damaging the rear sides of the truck and the taillights. Pieces of the broken taillights were left at the scene.
The jukebox is about 5’ tall and has the Hooters logo on it.
