Rain Storm Floods Borrego Springs

August 26, 2013 By sdcnews

SAN DIEGO–Borrego Springs endured a heavy rain storm Sunday that resulted in massive flooding.

This storm originated from the south, skirting the mountains west of the desert region as it traveled to the north.

Borrego Springs received several inches of rain from this storm causing flooding in the De Anza community. Several houses in the community sustained flood damage.

Additionally, the roadways entering Borrego Springs remain closed because of flooding and rock slides. These roadways include Montezuma Valley Rd (S-22) from Ranchita to Borrego Springs and Highway 78 at Scissors Crossing, which is east of San Felipe Rd (S-2). These roadways will remain closed until sometime late Monday morning.
