San Diego, CA–The San Diego Superior Court has ordered the conditional release of Sexually Violent Predator Michael Martinez.
The California Department of State Hospitals has recommended the placement of Martinez at 3406 Running M Road in Borrego Springs.
He was convicted of four separate cases including annoying and molesting a child, and lewd or lascivious acts upon a child under 14.
With the hearing scheduled for July 8, the SAFE Task Force will be accepting public comments about the proposed placement to be included in the formal response to the court and the Department of State Hospitals.
The public will be given the opportunity to support or object to the proposed placement before it is finalized. The District Attorney’s Office and SAFE Task Force will submit those comments to the court for the court’s consideration.
Comments will be accepted between the dates of June 1 and June 15.
The public can email their comments to: firstname.lastname@example.org. They can also call (858) 495-3619. Comments can be mailed to: SVP Release/SAFE Task Force, 9425 Chesapeake Drive, San Diego, CA 92123
Oral comments may be accepted subject to court ruling during a hearing on July 8 at 10 a.m. before the Honorable David M. Gill at San Diego Superior Court, Department 2204 at 1100 Union Street in San Diego.
While the possible placement of Martinez at the Borrego Spring address falls within the jurisdiction of the San Diego Sheriff’s Department, neither the law enforcement agency, the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office, or the Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement Task Force is responsible for the selection of the proposed site. The selection process is determined by the Department of State Hospital, and the San Diego Superior Court.
