POWAY–Detectives arrested a 14 year-old Poway High School student for making verbal death threats to another student.
On February 28, deputies from the Poway Sheriff’s Station learned about the threat made against another student at Poway High School earlier in the day. The 9th grader also threatened to bring guns to school. The student that was threatened told his mother about the incident when he came home from school because he was in fear for his safety. The parent in turn notified the principal of Poway High School.
Poway Unified School District officials, detectives from the Poway Sheriff’s Station and the Poway Criminal Apprehension Team immediately launched an investigation.
Detectives contacted the student at his residence in Poway, and he was taken into custody without incident. The suspect did not have access to any firearms and there is no indication anyone else was involved in the threats. The suspect was later booked into Juvenile Hall for making terrorist threats. The case will be submitted to the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office for review and evaluation.
Making a terrorist threat is a felony in the State of California.
