POWAY–Authorities investigated a Poway High School student Monday who allegedly made threats of shooting his school. The unidentified student told some of his friends, via a text message conversation, that there would be a shooting at the school tomorrow. The student also posted a screen shot of the conversation on Instagram for his friends to see. Detectives went to the student’s residence and conducted a threat assessment. The student told the detectives he was joking around with some of his friends. The detectives searched the residence and determined the minor did not have access to any firearms and he was released to his parents. School officials were notified and the investigation in ongoing to ascertain if other students were involved in the hoax. The minor will not be present in school tomorrow.
