Poway, CA–A vegetation fire that broke out Friday afternoon near State Route 67 in Poway is now 60% contained, fire officials said.
Fire crews from Cal Fire San Diego, San Diego Fire Department, and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection were able to contain the blaze to 25 acres.
The fire was first reported around 2:15 p.m. near Poway Road and SR 67, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies closed intersections on Highway 67, Espola Road, and Scripps Poway Parkway while crews battled the fire.
Crews later reopened Highway 67 shortly before 3:30 p.m. However, Poway Road remains closed to the public.
There were no reports of injuries or structural damages.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
