SAN DIEGO–Detectives are investigating a homicide that left a man dead in the Skyline Community Sunday evening.
Officers were dispatched to a report of a shooting in the 6700 block of Imperial Avenue. They located a 41 year-old male on the sidewalk inside of Marie Wideman Park who had sustained at least one gunshot wound to his upper torso. Officers and medics rendered medical aid to the victim and he was transported to a local hospital. The victim was pronounced deceased a short time later.
The preliminary investigation suggests the victim and several others were in the park when gunshots rang out and the victim was shot. A potential suspect vehicle was seen leaving the area shortly after the shooting. It was described as a light-colored sports utility vehicle that drove in a westbound direction away from the park.
The victim’s identity is known but will not be released until additional family notifications have been made.
