SAN DIEGO–The Department of Animal Services (DAS) is collaborating with the Even Chance Pit Bull Advocacy Group to spay or neuter pit bulls in the San Diego region.
Walk through any animal shelter in the San Diego region, and you will see one-third to one-half of the dogs are pit bulls or mixed breed pit bulls. These dogs often languish at the shelters because their owners fail to reclaim them and the public is hesitant to adopt them.
In an effort to reduce the number of unwanted pit bulls and pit bull mixes, DAS and the Even Chance Pit Bull Advocacy Group are holding their second Alter Pit event at the Animal Services facility in Bonita. The goal is to alter 25 dogs and as Even Chance’s motto states “Alter the Pets – Alter the Perception – Alter the Prospects” of these animals. Even Chance will also provide information about responsible pet ownership.
Pit bull owners can bring their pet to the County Animal Shelter, 5821 Sweetwater Road in Bonita on Dec. 15 from 8 a.m. to noon.
