Pedestrian Struck On I-5

January 8, 2016 By sdcnews

SAN DIEGO–A pedestrian was fatally struck while he crossed Interstate 5, California Highway Patrol said Friday.

CHP says Thursday’s traffic collision occurred at about 10:28 p.m. on the northbound lanes.

The unidentified pedestrian was observed attempting to cross the  lanes of traffic from the right shoulder to the center median. Moments later, CHP dispatch received reports that the pedestrian had been struck by a passing Chevrolet Volt. The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.

The traffic collision is still under investigation.

The two left lanes of I-5 were temporarily closed for the investigation and cleanup.
