Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Train

CARLSBAD–A pedestrian was fatally struck Saturday by an oncoming Amtrak train at the Carlsbad Village Station, the North Coastal Sheriff’s Transit Enforcement Unit said.

Shortly after 11 a.m., Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a pedestrian collision, involving an Amtrak Train. The collision occurred on the railroad tracks at the Carlsbad Village Station, located at 2775 State Street in Carlsbad. The southbound train was traveling at approximately 72 miles per hour when an adult male jumped onto the railroad tracks. He was struck by the train.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
