SANTEE–A 67-year-old pedestrian crossing a roadway in Santee was fatally struck by an elderly driver Thursday.
The accident occurred just after 9:30 a.m. in the 10500 block of Mission Gorge Road in Santee.
They found a 67-year-old, female pedestrian in the roadway who had been struck by 2006 Cadillac CTS being driven by an 82-year-old female. Santee paramedics worked on the pedestrian and transported her to Sharp Memorial Hospital. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the hospital. The driver sustained no injuries.
The preliminary investigation indicates the pedestrian was crossing from the northeast corner of Mission Gorge Road and 1st Street southbound across Mission Gorge Road when she was struck by the vehicle that was traveling westbound on Mission Gorge Road in the number two lane, according to traffic investigators.
Alcohol, drugs, or speed was not a factor in the collision. Westbound Mission Gorge Road from Magnolia Avenue to Edgemoor Drive was closed for several hours while the Santee Traffic Unit and Sheriff’s Traffic Accident and Reconstruction (S.T.A.R.) Team members conducted their investigation.
