ESCONDIDO–Palomar Health welcomed a boy and a girl as the first babies of 2017 at Palomar Medical Center Escondido and Palomar Medical Center Poway.

Gustavo Vargas Sanchez Jr. was born at 3:02 a.m. at the new Birth Center at Palomar Medical Center Escondido to Lilly Sanchez and Gustavo Vargas of Carlsbad. Little Gustavo weighed in at 8 pounds, 6 ounces and his dad thinks he’s “very handsome.”

The couple, who have two older children are ecstatic over Gustavo’s arrival and thrilled to be the parents of the first boy born at Palomar Medical Center Escondido in 2017.

Evelyn Findley was the first baby girl of 2017 at Palomar Medical Center Poway’s Birth Center, born at 8:02 a.m. and weighing  8 pounds, 5 ounces.  Her parents are Jennifer and Aaron Findley of Escondido, who brought their three-year-old son Raiden to meet his new sister Sunday morning. They are also thrilled and happy with their new arrival. “I’m in love already,” said Jennifer.

Both families received special gift baskets, courtesy of Palomar Health, which congratulates them on their “firsts” of 2017.
