SAN DIEGO–Palomar Health is looking for an additional 150 volunteers to help staff the new Palomar Medical Center in west Escondido, which opens on August 19 and other facilities.
Volunteers are especially needed to help staff front information desks, guest relations and patient ambassador services. They are also needed to fill evening and weekend hours.
Interested volunteers are encouraged to apply by July 16.
Palomar Health currently has about 600 volunteers who help support the district’s mission of healing, comforting and promoting health. Volunteers donated 90,000 hours last year at district facilities. Their services were valued at more than $2.2 million.
Health care experience is not required for volunteers as they receive extensive training and are asked to commit to providing a minimum of 100 hours of service.
Many volunteers in the district are retired people who have additional time on their hands and are able to consistently show up to help where they are needed.
