SAN DIEGO–The Padres Monday have recalled right-handed pitcher Miles Mikolas from Triple-A Tucson and have optioned right-handed pitcher Nick Vincent to the same Tucson club.
Mikolas, 23, made his Major League debut for the Padres May 5 against the Miami Marlins at Petco Park. In 13 relief outings for the Padres, the right-hander went 1-1 with a 3.29 ERA (5 ER/13.2 IP), a .224 (11-for-49) opponents batting average and 12 strikeouts against nine walks. He is currently working on a streak of 9.1 consecutive scoreless innings that spans the last seven Major League appearances from his previous stint with the Padres.
Vincent, 25, made four relief appearances with the Padres, including his Big League debut on June 26. He earned his first Major League win after 1.0 inning of work June 28 at Houston. In 18 games between Double-A San Antonio and Triple-A Tucson this season, he has gone 1-1 with a 6.38 ERA (13 ER/18.1 IP) and 23 strikeouts against seven walks, including 1-0 with a 1.86 ERA (2 ER/9.2 IP) and 15 strikeouts against no walks and just four hits allowed in his nine outings for the Missions.
