San Diego, CA–Powerful Pacific storms hit Southern California Saturday with heavy rainfall and mass flooding throughout the state and San Diego County, according to the National Weather Service.
A high surf advisory was issued Sunday in the coastal areas throughout San Diego County. The advisory is effective until 10 p.m. on Tuesday.
Breaking waves of 6 to 8 feet are expected to hit San Diego and Orange County coastal areas today. On Monday, breaking waves of 7 to 10 feet will continue to hit the coast until Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
Inexperienced swimmers and surfers are advised to stay out of the water due to dangerous conditions, The National Oceanic and Atmospheric tweeted.
Expect spotty showers to continue today with heavy rainfall overnight through Monday afternoon. Snow levels in the mountain areas are down to 5000 feet, the National Weather Service San Diego tweeted.
Flash flood warnings were issued today to Alpine, Campo, and Pine Valley until 5:30 p.m. Dangerous low-water crossings may become impassable in some areas. River or stream flows may be elevated, NWS officials said,
Motorists are advised not to drive on flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles during storms.
