CARLSBAD–Darren Lawlor, athletic director of Pacific Ridge School, received the Certified Athletic Administrator (CAA) award from the National Interscholastic Athletics Administrators Association.
The CAA designation is awarded to educators for the purpose of improving performance, maximizing the benefits received by the school community through effective leadership, and promoting professional standards, practices and ethics.
Last year, Lawlor partnered Pacific Ridge School with the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) to establish the core values of teamwork, discipline, respect and goal-setting within the school community.
This year, Lawlor joins the ranks of a very elite group of interscholastic athletic administrators to claim the designation.
To earn the CAA designation, Lawlor had to meet a number of criteria, adhere to the NIAAA strict code of ethics, complete coursework relevant to athletic administration, and successfully complete the CAA examination.
