SAN DIEGO–The cast and creative team for The Old Globe/University of San Diego Graduate Theatre Program announce a presentation of William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, running Nov. 6 to Nov. 13 in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Globe’s Conrad Prebys Theatre Center.
Shipwrecked on the rocky coast of Illyria, the lovely and plucky Viola disguises herself as a man to protect her honor in this strange land and finds employment as a page in the court of the lovesick Duke Orsino. But just as Viola falls in love with her new boss, the beautiful Olivia – whom Orsino is pursuing – finds herself attracted to this new young man, who’s really Viola in disguise. Meanwhile, the servant Maria and the drunken Sir Toby Belch conspire to enact a riotous revenge on the hilariously presumptuous servant Malvolio. This magical comedy is filled with Shakespeare’s most indelible comedic characters and sidesplitting situations.
The cast features Matt Bellows (Captain, Priest, Officer), Adam Daveline (Toby), Jeremy Fisher (Sebastian), Rachael Jenison (Maria), Jesse Jensen (Feste), Danielle O’Farrell (Fabian), Allison Spratt Pearce (Viola), Deborah Radloff (Olivia), Stephanie Roetzel (Curio, Olivia’s Lady), Christopher Salazar (Orsino), Jonathan Spivey (Malvolio), Whitney Wakimoto (Antonia) and Sean-Michael Wilkinson (Andrew). The production will be directed by Richard Seer.
A joint venture of The Old Globe and the University of San Diego, the Master of Fine Arts in Dramatic Arts program nationally recruits seven students each year to participate in an intensive two-year, year-round course of graduate study in classical theatre.
