Oceanside woman arrested in connection in the death of her newborn son

March 24, 2021 By sdcnews

Oceanside, CA–Local authorities arrested an Oceanside woman Tuesday accused of the alleged death of her newborn son, Oceanside Police Department said Wednesday.

Based on the information received from the investigation and the autopsy results, officers arrested 31-year-old Kelsey Carpenter and charged her with murder and child endangerment. She was booked in the Vista Detention Facility.

On November 15, at approximately 6:58 a.m., Oceanside police responded to a radio call to cover the Oceanside Fire Department for a newborn baby who was not breathing in a residence in the 300 block of Canyonside Way. Officers and paramedics arrived on scene and began providing CPR to the newborn baby. The newborn baby was transported to a local area hospital and later pronounced dead.

Anyone who may have information regarding this incident is encouraged to either contact Oceanside Police Detective Malone at (760) 435-4537 or the Anonymous Tip Line at (760) 435-4730.
