Oceanside to announce winners of banner competition artists

OCEANSIDE–The City of Oceanside Arts Commission will announce the winners of the 2010 Oceanside Banner Competition at an artist reception to be held at the Hill Street Café & Gallery in downtown Oceanside.

This is the second year the Oceanside Arts Commission has put on this popular event which in previous years was managed by MainStreet Oceanside (MSO). A total of 13 entries were received in this years’ competition which was open to professional and non-professional artists of all ages from San Diego County.

$500 will be awarded to Best of Show (1st Place), 2nd Place will receive $250 and $100 will be awarded to the 3rd Place banner.

The reception begins at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 27 at Hill Street Café & Gallery, 524 S. Coast Highway in downtown Oceanside.

The banners will hang on exhibit along Coast Highway from Wisconsin Avenue north towards downtown from July 1 through October 1, 2010, and will be available for purchase from the Arts Commission thereafter.
