Oceanside Police Search For Witnesses In Fatal Vehicle Collision

OCEANSIDE–Traffic investigators are looking for residents who witnessed a fatal vehicle collision of an elderly Oceanside man on September 26.

Oceanside police says at approximately 7:35 p.m., a blue Ford Escort collided with a 64-year-old pedestrian on San Diego Street near Higgins Street. Numerous people heard the collision and called 9-1-1. The pedestrian was unconscious upon the arrival of police officers and Oceanside Fire Department personnel.

The pedestrian was transported to Scripps Memorial Hospital with life threatening injuries. He never regained consciousness and was pronounced deceased about three weeks later as a result of the injuries he sustained during the collision.

Oceanside police is asking for the public’s help to locate any possible witnesses to this collision. Anyone with information is asked to call  (760) 435-4801, or (619) 717-0612.
