Oceanside police search for suspect accused of stabbing a Jefferson Middle School teacher

April 14, 2020 By sdcnews

OCEANSIDE–Oceanside Police Department investigators are seeking the public’s help in locating a suspect accused of the fatal stabbing of a Jefferson Middle School physical education teacher April 10 in Oceanside.

The victim, 45-year-old Chad Danielson, was described as a family man and a beloved PE teacher at the campus.

Oceanside Unified School District Superintendent, Dr. Julie Vitale released a statement about the death of Danielson:

“An incredible teacher at Jefferson Middle School who worked hard to develop meaningful relationships with his students. His positivity and genuine care for his students was evident on a daily basis.” Based on information we have received, it appears Danielson was well respected by school staff and loved by all of his students.”

Before the incident, Danielson had last been seen by his family, leaving his residence to walk the family’s dog. Upon his return home, a short time later, he was attacked in his front yard by the suspect. Neighbors who witnessed the fight described the suspect as a large Hispanic male with long dark hair.

The altercation occurred just before 8 a.m. in the 500 block of Garfield Street. When officers arrived, they found Danielson, with multiple stab wounds. Lifesaving measures were provided by police and paramedics. Danielson was transported to Palomar Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Homicide investigators believe someone may have seen the suspect or have information about the murder. Witnesses are encouraged to contact Sergeant Garcia at (760) 435-4815 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477 or www.sdcrimestoppers.org
