Oceanside Police Search For Hit And Run Driver Who Killed Pedestrian

OCEANSIDE–Investigators are looking for the male driver who fatally struck a 63-year-old female pedestrian Sunday evening in Oceanside.

The hit-and-run occurred at 8 p.m. in the 1400 block Mission Avenue, according to the Oceanside police department.

When police officers arrived at the scene the woman was found unresponsive in the street. She later died.

Police are looking for the driver of a silver 1998 Honda Civic with CA license plate 7HJW553.

The driver is described as a male with a beard. He was last seen  wearing a baseball cap is registered to an address in Oceanside.

A witness followed the driver on northbound Interstate 5 to eastbound Route 76, but lost the driver.

Anyone with information on the driver is asked to call the Oceanside Police Department at (760) 435-4900 or  (760) 435-4882.
