Oceanside, CA–Oceanside police are searching for a male pedestrian suspected of fatally shooting a 22-year-old female passenger inside a vehicle after an argument Saturday, police said.
Oceanside police officers responded to a medical aid at 11:44 a.m. at Bush and Archer Streets. The reporting party told dispatchers their friend was having a panic attack and was having difficulty breathing. Officers arrived and located the woman who was not breathing. Officers provided medical aid until medics arrived and transported her to Tri-City Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
While at the scene, officers noticed the victim had actually sustained a single gunshot wound to her upper body. Detectives responded and soon learned that the victim and her male friends were driving in a vehicle and were involved in an argument with an unknown male pedestrian. As the vehicle drove off, the unknown male shot at the vehicle. One round penetrated the rear of the vehicle and struck the woman. The name of the victim has not been released pending family notification.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male adult, 20 to 30-years-of-age, bald, five feet, 10 inches to six foot tall with a stocky build.
