OCEANSIDE–Local author Laurel Corona will discuss her book Finding Emilie at the Oceanside Public Library.
Finding Emilie is a story of two women: Emilie du Châtelet, the love of the famed French writer and philosopher Voltaire, and the daughter she died giving birth to, Stanislas-Adelaide (known in this story as Lili). Lili du Châtelet yearns to know more about her mother, the brilliant French mathematician Emilie. But the shrouded details of Emilie’s unconventional life and her sudden death are elusive. Laurel Corona’s breathtaking novel, set on the eve of the French Revolution, vividly illuminates the tensions of the times.
Corona is the author of historical novels Penelope’s Daughter, The Four Seasons and several non-fiction books, and frequently appears at writing conferences as a speaker, panelist and workshop facilitator.
The program begins at 5:30 p.m. on June 6 at the library’s Foundation Room, 330 N. Coast Highway in downtown Oceanside.
