Oceanside High School Placed On Lockdown

January 29, 2016 By sdcnews

OCEANSIDE–A report of a possible armed male at Oceanside High School forced a lockdown of the campus Friday morning, Oceanside police department says today.

Oceanside police says at approximately 7:45 a.m. a witness driving past Oceanside High School saw a male jump over a fence onto the campus with an object in his hand. The witness thought the object could have been an unknown type of weapon. The witness called a family member who reported the incident to school staff. As the witness was unable to provide any further information regarding the incident, police were not able to confirm if a weapon was actually seen.

Out of an abundance of caution, Oceanside High School was placed on lockdown as police officers conducted an extensive search of the school with the help of an ASTREA helicopter.

The unknown male was not located and there was no evidence a person with a weapon was ever on the campus. The students and staff were safe and the lockdown was lifted at approximately 8:40 a.m.
