North County Transit District Prepare For Potential Service Disruption

April 20, 2016 By sdcnews

OCEANSIDE–North County Transit District (NCTD) is alerting customers of a potential service disruption for its Breeze, Lift, and Flex bus system in the next few days.

The potential disruption is due to union negotiations between NCTD’s contract bus service operator, First Transit, and their drivers. Based on information about the current status of negotiations, NCTD has been advised that a work stoppage by the Union drivers may be imminent.

Under the current contract, First Transit is obligated to provide replacement bus service should a work stoppage occur. However, there is a mobilization period of at least 7-14 days that would be required before any service could be restored.

Although the Union and First Transit continue to negotiate a mutually acceptable resolution, the drivers may strike at any time. NCTD will update the public as more information is received, but urges the public to plan ahead for this potential disruption.

Coaster and Sprinter rail services will operate according to schedule.

An official notice of a work stoppage has not been received. If a work stoppage occurs, NCTD will notify the public immediately, and will provide information regarding replacement Breeze, Lift, and Flex service, and updated schedules. In addition, passengers can contact Customer Service to obtain trip planning assistance at 760-966-6500.
