“A sleeping bag will be the only gift most of these young people will receive this year,” said Eric Lovett, Executive Director of Urban Street Angels. “When you have nothing to sleep on but the sidewalk, a sleeping bag provides padding and warmth.”
In order to help meet Urban Street Angels’ goal of $15,750, Love Cupcake Café will be donating $1 of every cupcake sold starting Wednesday, Dec. 18 through Thursday, Dec. 19. San Diegans are invited to visit Love Cupcake Café to help Urban Street Angels meet its goal, or donate directly at: http://www.strengthtoserve.com/our_events/sleeping-bags.
“We love working with Urban Street Angels throughout the year, however, this holiday season is especially important because most city shelters are full,” said Hortenssia Zatarain, Owner of Love Cupcake Café. “We invite the community to share the love this holiday season and help the less fortunate.”
Urban Street Angels is a volunteer-based outreach organization that hits the streets four to six times a month to reach out to the estimated 6,000 homeless young people sleeping on the streets of San Diego each night.
