SAN DIEGO–San Diego nonprofit Fresh Start Surgical Gifts hosted its 24th annual Celebrity Golf Classic on March 6 and 7 at Morgan Run Club and Resort. Fresh Start raised a total of $198,000, exceeding their goal.

Donations from sponsors and attendees will fund Fresh Start’s medical program that benefit the nonprofit’s mission of transforming lives of disadvantaged infants, children and teens with physical deformities caused by birth defects, accidents, abuse, or disease through the gift of reconstructive surgery and related healthcare services.

“One hundred percent of donations from our 24th Annual Celebrity Golf Classic will go toward the costs of Surgery Weekends and Dental Clinics we hold throughout the year,” said Fresh Start Director of Development Christina Curtin. “The amount raised will go a long way in transforming the lives of infants, children and teens with physical deformities.”

EDCO Vice President John Snyder represented his organization by playing in the golf tournament and served as the event’s title sponsor. Celebrities and professional athletes in attendance included Alfonso Ribeiro, Host of “America’s Funniest Videos” and also known as Season 19 Winner of “Dancing with the Stars,” and former NFL running back and Hall of Famer Marcus Allen.

The golf tournament kicked off on Sunday with a dinner party, including cocktails and a live/silent auction. On Monday, each participating foursome was paired with a Hollywood celebrity or professional athlete for a day of golf.
