SAN DIEGO–This weekend, a full closure of Nobel Drive will be in effect for construction of the Mid-Coast Trolley.

Crews will be installing falsework, the temporary structures used to support the Trolley bridge during construction. The closure will be in place just west of the Interstate 5 (I-5) intersection, from the on-ramp to the entrances of the Shops at La Jolla Village and La Jolla Village Square.

The full closure is scheduled to begin March 9, at 12:01 a.m., and will continue through Sunday morning, March 10, at 12:01 a.m. During this time, the I-5 on-ramp will be not be accessible, but the I-5 off-ramp will remain open. In-and-out access to businesses and shop entrances will be maintained.

The closure area will be off limits to all travelers, including drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians. Detour routes will be signed.

The Mid-Coast Trolley Project will extend Blue Line Trolley service from Old Town north to the University City community, serving major activity centers such as Mission Bay Park, the VA Medical Center, UC San Diego, and University Town Center. Nine new stations will be constructed. Major construction work began in 2016, with service anticipated to begin in late 2021.
