August 3, 2016 By sdcnews

SAN DIEGO– San Diego Hunger Coalition, which works to ensure that no one in San Diego County goes to bed hungry, announced that Bob Kelly has joined the organization’s board of directors.
Kelly served as president and CEO of The San Diego Foundation for two decades and is a leading voice in San Diego philanthropy. The organization also announces board member Ellen Waddell as the new chair and board member Ron Troyano as vice chair.
“Bob Kelly’s impact on the health and equity of San Diego County’s communities speaks for itself,” says Anahid Brakke, the San Diego Hunger Coalition’s executive director. “We welcome his leadership and experience as we work to find and implement the most promising solutions to hunger in San Diego County.”
In his nearly 20 years at The San Diego Foundation, Kelly oversaw the institution’s programs, growth and asset management, which totaled $686 million in 2015. Previously, Kelly served as executive director of the American Cancer Society in San Diego and vice president of Southern California as well as chief operating officer for Sharp HealthCare Foundations. Over the course of his career, Kelly has originated many programs to improve equity and opportunity in the San Diego region including Camp Reach for the Sky, San Diego Women’s Foundation, San Diego Charitable Real Estate Fund, and most recently, The San Diego Foundation’s Malin Burnham Center for Civic Engagement.
New board chair Ellen Waddell is a director at the Moxie Foundation, which is dedicated to enriching and empowering individuals and communities by advancing educational achievement and entrepreneurial success, personal health, and the environment. Vice chair Ron Troyano is owner of Alchemy San Diego whose work centers on developing food system ventures that support the equitable and sustainable food movement in San Diego mainly through strategic activation and community development.
