New Children’s Museum to host holiday activities

SAN DIEGO–Celebrate the season at The New Children’s Museum from November 18 – December 31 with an extended series of holiday themed celebrations, seasonal workshops, day camps, and special activities for all ages. Holiday Happenings at the museum includes multiple community events, enabling Museum visitors and members to enjoy additional family oriented programming at no additional charge.

Holiday Wish Chains

November 1 – December 31 | Open all day

Link together colorful bands to create a collective holiday wish chain. Chains will be added to massive, paper chandeliers hanging in the Museum’s atrium. Recommended for all ages.

Flying Turkeys

November 18 –November 30 | 11 a.m. and 1 a.m.

Can turkeys fly? At NCM they can! Get creative and create a one-of-a-kind flying friend. Recommended for ages 4 and older.

Rock Out Family Concert

Saturday, November 20 | 1 a.m. – 4 a.m.

Rock into the holidays with local favorite Rockola and School of Rock at the Rock Out Family Concert on Saturday, November 20, from 1 a.m. – 4 a.m.. Free with Museum admission. All ages welcome.

NCM Day Camp

November 22 – 26 | 9 a.m. – 2 a.m.
December 20 – 23, 27 – 30

Kids out of school for the holidays? Drop them off at the Museum for a day they’ll never forget! Each day will feature a different take-home activity and animal themed artwork. Designed for children in kindergarten through grade 5. $40 members, $50 non-members. Registration for December sessions begins on December 1.

Make Good Holiday Trunkshow

Saturday, November 27 | 10 a.m. – 4 a.m.

The New Children’s Museum has partnered with Make Good, a local collective of artisans, designers and crafters, offering families a cost-effective and creative solution to holiday shopping. All clothing, jewelry, gifts, and accessories are up-cycled and locally made. Museum admission is not required for entry.

DIY Gift Tags

December 2 – December 31 | Open all day

Gift-giving season is almost here! Use recycled materials to make personalized gift tags. Recommended for all ages.

DIY Wrapping Paper

December 2 – December 31 | Open all day

Design your own wrapping paper for holiday gifts. Recommended for ages 3 and older.

Members Only Holiday Celebration

Saturday, December 4 | 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Rock into the new year at a private members only holiday celebration on Saturday, December 4 from 10 a.m.–1 p.m. Enjoy exclusive activities for kids of all ages, a special drumming workshop with Rhythm Worx, and a variety of delicious snacks and treats. RSVP to membership@thinkplaycreate.org.

Weekend Holiday Celebration

Saturday, December 11 | 10 a.m. – 4 a.m.
Sunday, December 12 | Sunday free admission sponsored by Target

Enjoy festive music all weekend, with special performances by Creative Performing Media Arts Middle School, UCSD Dots, Oak Park Western Percussion Ensemble, and more.

Music & Dance Festival

Saturday, December 18 | 10:30 a.m. – 3:30 a.m.

Family friendly musical talent and dance crews take the stage for a fun-filled day of award-winning entertainment! The all-star line-up includes Aaron Nigel Smith, Rhythm Child, Hullabaloo, and special performances and workshops with Studio FX and Eveoke Dance Theatre. Free with admission.

Admission: Adults and children $10; New Children’s Museum member, free; children under one year free; seniors (65+): $5; Military (w/ ID): $5
