Mudslide Damages Apartments, Displaces Oceanside Families

December 27, 2016 By sdcnews

OCEANSIDE–A large mudslide Christmas Day displaced four Oceanside families at a two-story apartment complex, according to authorities.

The mudslide occurred at 5 a.m. in the 500 block of Canyon Drive, according to Oceanside Fire department investigators.

Authorities say 75-feet-long, 12-feet-wide mudslide was caused by a combination of heavy rains and a broken water line. Four units were damaged.

The Red Cross is assisting the families with temporary housing.

City of Oceanside building inspectors will evaluate the property.
