Oceanside, CA–An 18-year-old motorist died and her passenger was seriously injured Friday in a multi-vehicle collision in Oceanside, authorities said Saturday.

The Oceanside Police Department responded to an 11:30 p.m. report of a three-vehicle collision in the northbound lanes of El Camino Real at the intersection of Fire Mountain Dr. The suspect vehicle traveled southbound on El Camino Real and crossed the center median striking a fire hydrant and then into oncoming traffic. The suspect vehicle collided with two vehicles traveling northbound on El Camino Real. The collision caused one of the northbound vehicles to roll over.

Oceanside resident 18-year-old Dalila Jebrail was pronounced dead at the scene. Her 18-year-old female passenger survived and was transported to the hospital for several injuries. The family of Dalila has been notified of the incident.

The suspect male driver was injured and transported to a local hospital. He is being investigated on suspicion of being under the influence of alcohol.

The other involved party sustained a complaint of pain but was released on his own recognizance.

The investigation is still ongoing.

Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to call Investigator Paul at (760) 435-4431.
