OCEANSIDE–A 25 year-old motorcyclist is in serious condition at a local hospital after he lost control of his motorcycle and struck a sign, an Oceanside police spokesman said Monday.
Witnesses who saw the accident stopped to render aide to the rider, identified as Brent Brown. Emergency personnel arrived and began treating the Brown, who was subsequently flown to Scripps La Jolla Hospital for treatment.
Officers say the collision occurred as Brown was traveling eastbound on Vista Way approaching the intersection at Italia Way. The rider was unable to negotiate the curve in the roadway and struck the south curb. This caused Brown to lose control of the motorcycle and he was ejected from the motorcycle. Preliminary investigation revealed that Brown was airborne when he struck a sign. He suffered major head trauma and is in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit at Scripps La Jolla Hospital.
The investigation is ongoing. It is unknown if alcohol was a factor in the collision. Oceanside police is seeking witnesses with information regarding this collision, or events leading up to the collision to call Accident Investigator Hendrix at (760) 435-4882.
